My Auction Addiction is honored to announce the upcoming sale of an extraordinary collection of personal artifacts preserved within the Thayer family, whose history is forever connected to RMS Titanic.

At the center of this collection is an Elgin pocket watch that has descended directly through the family of Titanic survivor John “Jack” B. Thayer III. According to longstanding Thayer family history and the direct testimony of Jack’s grandson, John B. Thayer V, this is the watch Jack carried during the sinking of RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912.

Jack was only seventeen years old when he survived the disaster after entering the freezing North Atlantic and reaching the overturned Collapsible Lifeboat B. He later recorded one of the most significant firsthand accounts of Titanic’s final moments and the world that changed in their aftermath.

The collection also includes a pocket watch presented to Jack by his mother, Marian Longstreth Morris Thayer, for his twenty-first birthday, as well as a custom cricket watch belonging to his father, John Borland Thayer II, presented following his cricket tour in England.

Additional pieces include a silverware service bearing the family crest and an article recounting Jack Thayer’s experiences aboard Titanic, personally signed by Jack.

These are not simply antiques or objects associated with a celebrated family name. They are deeply personal artifacts preserved through generations of the Thayer family, carrying with them stories of accomplishment, survival, tremendous loss, and one of the most consequential maritime disasters in history.

For My Auction Addiction, this collection represents an unprecedented opportunity to present objects of profound historical and personal significance. We are privileged to bring the Thayer Family Collection to auction with the respect, care, and historical attention it deserves.

Also we interviewed the Thayer's about their family as well, if you want to check it out here is the link to watch it on youtube: https://youtu.be/XvyGh7xbGfc
